Farmer 10-Year Gift
PROBLEM
The team came to me with a brief: design a certificate to thank the farmers who had been with us for 10 years. I loved the idea of celebrating and honoring the partnership with our farmers, but a piece of paper in a frame just wasn’t going to cut it.
SOLUTION
After a few concepting rounds, we landed on two pieces that felt more meaningful and rooted in our both our brand and the pride of family farming: a custom barn quilt and an egg room sign.
The barn quilt concept was inspired by barn quilts painted across the Midwest, displayed to honor agricultural heritage and family history. Because many Vital Farms farmers are multi-generational families, I wanted to create a lasting heirloom— something both personal and uniquely Vital Farms. The final design, a quilt block fried egg, ties Vital Farms’ brand iconography to this long-standing agricultural tradition. I designed the quilt block and worked with a local painter to execute and coordinate delivery.
The egg room sign served as a complimentary piece that leaned into a more traditional recognition format. Both gifts were accompanied by custom printed cards that highlighted each farm’s approximate egg production during their time with Vital Farms, adding a layer of personalization to the recognition.
TAKEAWAY
Rather than a one-size-fits-all certificate, the project focused on creating thoughtful, meaningful, heirloom pieces that celebrate each farmer’s contribution and partnership with Vital Farms.
